A support program for helping
to feed the world's homeless children

This program has been designed by the Mission Committee of First Presbyterian Church Burbank to help provide financial funds to national Christian leaders who are feeding homeless children in Africa and Latin America.

Our example for this program is the young lad who shared his lunch by giving his five small loaves and fishes to Jesus when the Master needed to feed the 5,000.

How you can share your lunch

  • You can participate in this program by sharing your lunch one, two or three days a week in one of two ways:
    1. Choose to fast on the selected day(s) each week and donate the amount you would have spent on lunch to the Share Your Lunch program to help feed hungry children. As you fast on the selected day(s), we recommend that you find a quiet place during your normal lunchtime and pray for the homeless and hungry children of the world. Remember to pray for those national Christian leaders who are caring
      for them and their needs
    2. Contribute matching funds for what your lunch costs on the selected day(s) of the week.
  • You can choose the ministry to which you want your funds donated. The three programs we have chosen for support through this program include two in Kenya and one in Brazil.

The ministries you may choose from are:
    1. Kenya Street Children Project for those children orphaned or abandoned to the streets of Nyeri, Kenya operated by the Reverend and Mrs. Bernard Muindi of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
    2. Makobe Children's Home for children orphaned by AIDS in Makobe, Kenya (among Muslim people) operated by the Reverend and Mrs. Stephen Sesi of the Africa Inland Church.
    3. Presbyterian partners ministry to street children in Argentina and Uruguay for orphaned or abandoned children living on city streets in Latin America.
  • You place your lunch money for each week's commitment in the Share Your Lunch envelope distributed by the Mission Committee. Be sure to check the designated recipient for your funds and fill in your name (and envelope number if desired) so your giving can be recorded by the church.
  • You commit to participating in the Share Your Lunch program for six weeks. Each time we begin a new six-week period, you will be notified. At the end of each six-week commitment, you will turn in your Share Your Lunch collection envelope.
